Playing naughty or nice . . . Fiona Wilder knows all about falling in lust. Love? That’s another story. Determined not to repeat past mistakes, the single mom and cupcake shop owner is focused on walking the straight and narrow. But trouble has a way of finding her. And this time it comes in the form of a smoking hot firefighter who knows all the delicious ways to ignite her bad-girl fuse. Can lead to heartbreak . . .
Firefighter Mike Halsey learned long ago that playing with fire just gets you burned. He’s put his demons behind him, and if there’s one line he won’t cross, it’s getting involved with his best friend’s ex. But when fate throws him in the path of the beautiful, strong, and off-limits Fiona, will he be able to fight their attraction? Or will he willingly go down in flames? Or a sweet surprise!
Candis Terry was born and raised near the sunny beaches of
Southern California and now makes her home on an Idaho farm. She’s experienced
life in such diverse ways as working in a Hollywood recording studio to chasing
down wayward steers. Only one thing has remained the same: her passion for
writing stories about relationships, the push and pull in the search for love,
and the security one finds in their own happily ever after.
Thanks to Candis Terry, Edelweiss, and Tasty Book Tours for the opportunity to read and review this amazing book and continuation of the Sweet Texas series. I have read the others and I have been looking forward to this one for a while. It was also great to see glimpses into what was happening with the other couples.
We met Fiona Wilder during Jackson and Abby’s story in Sweetest Mistake. Fiona was married to and had a child, Izzy, with Jackson, but they are happily divorced. There was something about Fiona that I loved and respected about her and was looking forward to her getting her forever love. As a single mom myself, I could relate to Fiona on so many levels.
We also met Mike during previous books, but was able to see the friendship that he and Jackson have and they are also co-workers. Mike has this rule that he tries to abide by about keeping his distance because Fiona and Jackson were married. That is until Jana Wilder, the all meddling and all knowing mother of Jackson and the other guys of Sweet Texas, decides to call in the auction that she won Mike in.
With Jana’s wickedly wonderful ways, Mike learns that Fiona is exactly what and who he needs in his life. Now, he just needs to break his own rule. Fiona also learned that accepting help is not a bad thing. She also has to open her heart up again.
I love these two characters and I have to say that this is my favorite of the series. Although, I can’t wait to read Jake’s story.
