Harborside Nights # 1

Wyatt Armstrong never imagined that instead of celebrating his college graduation, he and his twin sister would be dealing with the death of their parents. Then again, Wyatt had never been one to think past tomorrow. He heads to their summer home in Harborside, Massachusetts, with his best friend Cassidy Lowell in tow, to deal with his parents’ death and to try to figure out his next step.
Six foot two, infuriatingly handsome, and flirtatious, Wyatt Armstrong has always been there for Cassidy, helping her pass her classes and fend off unwanted advances, while driving her insane with his one-night stands—but that’s what best friends are for, isn’t it? Having each other’s backs. There was never any doubt that she would accompany him to his family’s summer home—but she never expected to begin seeing Wyatt as more than a friend. Or has she been ignoring her feelings all along?
It’s impossible to ignore the sizzling heat between them as Wyatt and Cassidy get even closer, but Cassidy knows Wyatt’s past, and she has a real job to begin in the fall. Wyatt may be a sure thing for the summer, but Cassidy needs more. For the first time in his life, Wyatt is forced to look toward the future if he doesn’t want to lose the one woman who’s shared his past and owns his heart.

Thank you to Melissa Foster and Tasty Book Tours for the opportunity to read and review this new series. I have become a huge fan of Melissa Foster over the last year and a half. This book is different than others that I have read of hers because it is a coming of age/New Adult genre of romance. That being said, I still loved this book and can’t wait to see what else comes from Harborside Nights!
This book deals with grief and loss. If you have recently lost a loved one, proceed with caution. I am telling you this from experience since I am still recovering from a couple major deaths in my family last summer. I went in knowing that there was a death, but I was unprepared for the reaction that I had reading this book.
Catching Cassidy is a book that should take you on a rollercoaster of emotions, but it should not disappoint romance lovers. I am going to give a secret away for what was going on when I finished the last 25% of this book. I had my iPod on shuffle, with my “special” playlist. The Special playlist is one that has songs that make me think of a couple people, the guy that I am in love with and my bestie. During the course of the last 25% of the book, the song “See You Again” from the Fast 7 movie played a minimum of 5 times and I had it on shuffle. Combine the song with the book and I sobbed and read through tears.
In this book, we meet Cassidy, Wyatt and Delilah, who grew up and graduated college together. Wyatt and Delilah are twins and Cassidy is their best friend. While they are celebrating their graduation, Wyatt and Delilah learn that their parents are killed in a car crash by a drunk driver. Cassidy was with them when they found out about their parents since she had found out some disturbing information about her boyfriend. As Wyatt and Delilah go through the funeral process and the aftermath of their death, they realize that they could not be in the house and decide to head to their summer destination of Harborside.
Once Cassidy, Wyatt and Delilah get to Harborside, we begin to see more about how Wyatt and Cassidy feel about each other. Although, leading up to them going to Harborside, we knew that they both were starting to realize that they were beginning to realize they had feelings for each other. Watching Wyatt and Cassidy decide to act upon their feelings and let the cards fall where they may was sweet but heartbreaking since Cassidy was waiting for a job offer in a different city and Wyatt was dealing with his parents dying and taking over the family bar in Harborside.
I can’t wait to see how Wyatt and Cassidy grow in future books.
