REVIEW: The Unlikely Lady by Valerie Bowman

the unlikely lady

Description

FOR THE BACHELOR AND THE BLUESTOCKING…
Certain that no man wants a bluestocking for a wife, Miss Jane Lowndes is careful to wield her books and her spectacles as weapons against matrimony. Convincing her ambitious mama that she’s content to stay a spinster is easier said than done, however. It’s a good thing Jane is not above a bit of manufactured scandal if it will keep her from the altar, and the argumentative, contrary Lord Garrett Upton…

ROMANCE IS NEVER BY THE BOOK

With the war over, Garrett is determined to enjoy his bachelor’s life while he can, even when it means attending a house party in celebration of a friend’s wedding–and suffering Jane’s notorious disdain. But when a masquerade ball leads to a mistaken kiss, he’s surprised to learn that Jane’s bookish exterior hides a truly passionate soul. When two such headstrong people are determined to remain unattached, can love lead to a happy ending?

ADRI’S REVIEW:

As always I first need to thank the companies that make it possible for us to bring you this review Netgalley and St. Martins Press.

I have to say that I hadn’t read the previous books in this series, but definitely look forward to reading them in the future. I loved Garrett and Jane’s story. The characters were awesome, I loved the fact that these two were at each others throats and always competing prior to things happening between them. Neither of them was looking for more, but when you aren’t looking is when it finds you. The banter between Garrett and Jane is awesome. There really is so much fun in this book, I found myself laughing and enjoying it often . I can say that I stayed up way too late one night just so I could finish reading it. I didn’t want to put it down once I started it.

I have to say I can’t wait to get my hands on the other books so I can read Lucy and Cass’s story, because if their antics in this book is any indication what these three characters can get into, I am sure they are amazing. I also will look forward to reading the next book with Swift’s sister to come.

I give this book 5 silly kisses…

Happy Reading… Adri
