Discovering Delilah
Harborside Nights # 2
By: Melissa Foster
Releasing July 9th, 2015
World Literary Press

After the death of her parents on the day of her college graduation, Delilah Armstrong thought she could finally follow her heart and come out to her closest friends, but the guilt of going against her parents’ beliefs haunts her. The feelings she has for her best friend, Ashley, are stronger than anything she’s felt before, but Delilah has never even kissed a girl, and fear stops her at every turn.

Ashley Carver promised herself that she would never again date another girl who wasn’t out, but that was before she met intoxicatingly sweet and sexy Delilah.

When another girl offers to teach Delilah the ropes, it changes Delilah’s whole world and gives her the courage to go after the only girl she really wants. But coming out isn’t as easy as Delilah imagined, and moving past her parents’ death and the feelings of guilt she is left with is even harder. The intense passion between Ashley and Delilah is too strong to deny, but coming together means risking everything.

Discovering Delilah is an edgy, evocative, romantic story of friendship, family, and the courage to love.

Sarah’s Review:

Thanks to Melissa Foster and Tasty Book Tours for another amazing book to read.  This is the second book in the Harborside Nights Series and I was prepared for this book to be tough because of the first book.  It was, but not as tough as Catching Cassidy.

We met Delilah and Amy in Catching Cassidy after Delilah’s and Wyatt’s parents are killed by a drunk driver on their graduation day.  Catching Cassidy is the immediate aftermath.  Discovering Delilah is a couple months after their death and we get a look into what Delilah is going through. Delilah is going through the grieving process and working through coming to terms with her sexuality.   Delilah told her parents right before she walked the stage at graduation that she is a lesbian.  She knew their reaction was going to be difficult but then she wasn’t able to talk with them again.  Delilah thought that her parents were disgusted by her sexuality and she was trying to cope with that and their death.  That is until Aunt Lara told her that her mom emailed her before they were killed.  Delilah hadn’t checked her email since their death.  What was said in that email made a difference for Delilah.

Amy is a friend of one of Delilah’s friends so she was bound to meet Delilah.  Amy was burned by someone that wasn’t “out” and vowed to never get involved with someone that wasn’t out again.  That is until Delilah.  Amy knew that Delilah needed a friend and was there for her.  Then Amy starting falling for her.

Amy and Delilah were both unsure whether the other was a lesbian or not.  Neither wanted to ask either.  Watching these to make their relationship happen, despite what was going on with each of them was powerful and shows that love is love.  When you love someone, you find a way to work through things that may have been deal breakers before.
