Synopsis

Katherine “Kit” Morgan was a try anything kind of woman. Where her heart led, her feet followed, so it was par for the course when she found herself in a submissive position with a female Dominant.

Comfortable and happy, she embraced her new life. She moved to New Orleans, took up residence with Mistress Kayla, and became a member of the club where her Mistress was a pillar of the small community.
When an old friend of Mistress Kayla’s contacted her for a favor, Kit found herself packed up and shipped off to the Louisiana swamps with her companion. She never once expected to fall in love with the old antebellum home, let alone be drawn to the owner’s moody and mysterious grandson, Jared.

Before she had time to get comfortable, Kit discovered that the favor the old man had asked Mistress Kayla for included her talents, and a request she knew she couldn’t turn down. Torn between obedience and desire, Kit agreed, only to discover that nothing in her life would ever be the same again.

My Review
You want to know why I loved this book? It was different than most bdsm books.  I don’t know about you, but I have always wondered, what if the sub developed feelings for another Dom. How entrenched is their devotion? How far does the trust go? How do you know that what you feel is the right thing? And how much of everything that they do is based on conditioned behavior?  I know, I know…I’m a geek, but I seriously ask myself these questions every time I read a bdsm book. I mean, not every relationship can be perfect.
The book is told through Kit’s point of view. Honestly, it wouldn’t be the story it is if it were told through the eyes of another character. It’s not only the evolution of a D/s relationship, it’s the discovery of who Kit herself really is. You are pulled right in to her internal battle between everything she’s ever known, and everything she truly desires.
There could have been a whole other book about Jared’s transformation. He started out arrogant and quickly channeled that in to his new lifestyle. He accepted everything quickly, which went to show how natural of a Dominate he truly was.  He became one of my favorite characters after that first night with Kit.
Kayla was the one I was unsure of throughout the whole book. She had a vibe to her that made me very leery of her. Once I found out her backstory, my heart broke for her, and I understood her a lot more than I did in the beginning. Her and Charles are two pieces of this puzzle that again, could have their own story written. It’s sad and makes you realize that communication is paramount.
I love that The Favor is more about the working behind the D/s relationship than the actual relationship. Yes, there are some pretty steamy moments but that isn’t what this story is about. It’s about loyalty, and being true to yourself. It’s about waking up a part of you that you thought didn’t exist, and trusting yourself most of all. Kit and Jared’s journey is more of a spiritual and emotional one, than a sexual one.  This is a beautiful story, with wonderful characters. I give The Favor 5 kisses
