Review: Home for Christmas by Lily Everett

home for christmassassysynopsis4

Celebrate Christmas on Sanctuary Island, where the love light gleams. There will be snow and mistletoe…and two lonely hearts yearning for love, family, and above all, home.

Magazine columnist Libby Leeds has made a name for herself sharing heartwarming stories from her perfect life on Sanctuary Island. There’s just one minor detail she’s left out: she hasn’t set foot on the island since her childhood. Orphaned and heartbroken, she departed years ago and never looked back-except in her fictional columns. Now a wounded war hero is returning to Sanctuary Island, and Libby’s editor insists she cover the story by taking the long road back…

Army Ranger Owen Shepard is a tall, handsome single father, and now a media sensation. He wants to reconnect with his daughter, Caitlin, and make up for lost time by giving her a Christmas to remember. When “America’s Favorite Homemaker” Libby Leeds offers her help, he jumps at the chance. But the sweet, reclusive writer is more intriguing, and more tempting, than Owen could have imagined. Soon, Owen and Caitlin are spending their holiday with Libby, decorating trees, making gingerbread houses, and warming up by the fire. It’s the closest Libby has come to love and family since she was a child-but until she and Owen admit what is in their hearts, the home they are creating together will be only in their dreams.

“Sanctuary Island will live in your heart long after the book is closed.”
-Susan Wiggs, #1 New York Times bestselling author

By now you all know I start off by thanking those who make it possible for us to bring you these reviews, in this case St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley.

Man oh man what can I say about this book and this author that hasn’t already been said. It was fantastic I loved it. Now you all who have been following us for a while would know that we LOVE the military and all our men and women in service around this blog. So needless to say that having a christmas story with a recovering soldier was heart warming and breaking at the same time. You see I have some amazing Marines who aren’t home for Christmas for the second year in a row. Its hard on us, so I felt this one a bit more because it was someone who got to spend the holiday with his family. Now add to that fact that he was meeting his daughter for the first time. A little girl who had been through so much just added to the feels for me in this book. Now lets throw in a fantastic lead female character who longs for family, love and happiness and its a grab your tissues and prepare to cry kind of book. I am lucky enough to say I got to spend a lazy Sunday sitting on my couch with my blanket and watching the twinkling lights of my Christmas Tree while I read this book. And if you can I recommend reading it just like that as well… it will put you in the perfect giving holiday feeling.

I give this book 5 frozen kisses…

Happy Reading… Adri
