Review: Bella and The Beast by Olivia Drake

Bella and the Beastsassysynopsis4

Even a confirmed bachelor can meet his match.Because sometimes fairy talesย doย come true…

Bella Jones feels like a fish out of water in civilized England. Raised abroad by her explorer father, she’s amused by the very proper manners of the nobility. Nevertheless, to save her younger siblings from ruin, she must infiltrate a ducal household in order to find the map to an ancient treasure trove. Alas, the haughty, handsome duke stands in her way…unless she can tame his beastly temper, that is.

Miles Grayson, the Duke of Aylwin, prefers antiquities to, well, everything else. Especially prying females with their irksome questions. But Bella’s blue eyes and beguiling smile are improbably charming, and the temptation of her kiss is impossible to resist. As the pair is swept into a mystery that reaches back to their childhoods, Miles realizes that Bella has made the rarest discovery of all-the key to his heart…

I want to thank NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing us with a copy of this book so that we could bring you this review.

I enjoyed this book a lot, I thought Bella was so worldly and had gained so much knowledge and advantage of others in her social circles by being able to grow up in a different culture. I did find that some of the things she dealt with as a young girl were quite sad, but it also made her a better, stronger character. Miles was a huge ass and the nickname of Beast fit him perfectly because that was what he was, but it was fantastic to see him lose those points as Bella got under his skin. It was also understandable that he’d grown up to be the way he was, but at the same time irritating that he allowed some of the things that happened that were out of anyones control, make him into the man he became. Of course like any book there are characters that you just HATE… and with this one its no different. I hated Miles’ cousin and his wife, they were mean and nasty people in my opinion. One thing that I would have never guess was the twist this book takes at the culmination and climax of it. I would have never guessed it would turn out that way. I was completely convinced the villain was someone else. So I know that is a bit of a spoiler its not too big of one I hope. I am hopeful it is more of a point of how well written and unexpected it is.

I gave this book 4 ancient kisses…ย

Happy Reading… Adri
