The Pebble Jar has got to be my absolute favorite book of this year. This book is the reason why the young adult genre is one of my favorite genres to read. Abbi is the girl we can all relate too. We were all her at one point in our awkward adolescence(if you weren’t, I hate you….j/k…sort of). I instantly fell in love with Elliot’s charm and quick wit. And Nonna…she was a treasure. This story is full of moments that will make you smile, laugh, get angry, and yes, even cry. Big, fat, ugly cry tears too.
The struggles Abbi faces were difficult to read at times, only because it makes you realize that the people you think will be around forever, won’t be. Be it a friend, a family member, or someone that you thought would never leave your side no matter what. Change is inevitable, no matter how bad we don’t want it to be.
This book should be read by everyone. It’s the perfect story of an evolution of friendship and growing up. You will laugh at Abbi and Elliot’s antics and cry at their heartache. I fell in love with them from the first page. It’s impossible not too.
