Pushing You Away
Noah & Katie duet, #1
Ex-Con Duet Series
Pushing You Away is now available on all retailers!
I’ve been in love with my best friend Katie Walker for as long as I can remember. We may have shared our deepest, darkest secrets but that one I’ve kept to myself. Before I got the courage to confess my true feelings, my cousin Gabe moved to town and swept Katie off her feet.
I should’ve admitted how I felt but I couldn’t—especially once they got married.
When I caught Gabe cheating on his pregnant wife, I snapped. A deadly fight erupted and before I could comprehend what happened, I was charged with his murder and sent to prison.
The day I’m released, I go straight to Katie’s house. But after pushing her away for a decade while I was behind bars—she slams the door in my face—wanting nothing to do with me.
While she’s determined to pretend I don’t exist, this time I’m not going anywhere.
PUSHING YOU AWAY is a slow burn, angsty friends to lovers romance with lots of small-town, Southern drama. It’s book 1 in the Noah & Katie duet and must be read in order.

Erin and I would like to thank Kennedy Fox for providing us with a copy of this book so we could write this review. We look forward to continued joint reviews for this amazing author.
Though this is the second set of books in the Ex-Con duet series, you can easily read Noah and Katie’s books without having read the first or known much about the history of the previous couple. There are so many elements and feelings that go into this couple, into the things that have brought them to where they are. Guilt. Regret. Preserving. But the biggest and strongest one is overcoming. Noah has to overcome what he has been through for the last 10 years and Katie has had to overcome the struggles of being a single parent.
If you have been a follower of our blog for a while you know how much I love second chance love stories. How hard I fight for these characters to get what and who they deserve. And there hasn’t ever been a couple who deserve it more than Noah and Katie. You pull for them the entire time and hope that things go the way they should and need to. You hope that nothing gets in their way even as you know that it is inevitable that something will. There is too much history for it not to.
The one thing I will say the strongest with the book is know that there are 2 books and book 2 is a month away. So the cliffhanger and the curiosity of who is behind the chaos towards the end will make you want to speed up time. But I think that is one of the things I enjoy the most about Kennedy Fox’s writing, is that they (and if you didn’t know Kennedy Fox is 2 authors) put you through emotional rollercoasters and leave you craving more and more.
I give this book 5 time serving kisses.
Happy Reading… Adri
It’s been a while since I’ve read a Kennedy Fox book(I know, I know), so I’m a little behind with their duets and series. Going in to this one, I didn’t know that it was part of a series, so from my experience anyway, you could definitely read this one without reading the first books. But I need the other character’s stories so I’ll be reading the other ones soon. I’ve also always been amazed at just how seamless these co-authors write.
This one starts out breaking your heart. I felt for Noah from the beginning and only want the best for him. Listen to me talk like he’s real, lol. It’s a friends to lovers that’s a slow burn 15+ years in the making. It’s sweet with just enough spice to make you blush. Katie is quite the woman. This is a woman who has gone through one of the worst things a pregnant wife can go through, and her grace and strength are admirable. Noah and Katie’s story is fast paced with plenty of family dynamic drama and a twinge of suspense that will have you holding your breath by the end. It does end on a cliff hanger, but the second book isn’t that far away so we won’t have to wait too long. I love the little glimpses in to the past that we get to show just how much these two have always meant to each other. This isn’t a one night stand turned love of my life. Noah and Katie have a deep love and understanding of one another that we can all hope to have. It’s what makes what happens to these two all the more heartbreaking. But it isn’t just about the two of them anymore. So much has changed and they have to learn to forgive and heal.
This has easily become one of my favorite reads so far this year
